Supplies for Fire Truck Carnival Booth:

bullet point Local Police with their Police Car
bullet point Table & Chairs - other supplies for "Fire Safety" or "Personal Safety" handouts and other items the Fire Fighters or Police may want to share with the kids or parents

Booth Set Up:

Months/weeks before the carnival, call your local Fire Department (or your local Police Department) and see if they would be willing to send out the Pumper Truck (or Police Car) with some Firefighters (or Police) in uniform to your carnival.

How to run the Fire Truck Carnival Booth:

Every Fire Department is different, but many will allow the children to climb into the Fire Truck to see what it is like to be a real Fireman!

Also, many will answer questions from kids and even parents about their job and the “big red fire engine.”

Remember, these Firemen/Fire-women are real heroes to kids - and children and parents alike enjoy talking with these  community leaders in person!

In addition, and more importantly, this free carnival booth allows your local fire department to hand out safety brochures and get an important safety message across to an interested audience.

Additional Hints & Tips:

Also, if this is a Volunteer Fire Department, they can have interested dads (and moms) fill out a form to find out more about joining their team!

One year, our local Volunteer Fire Department set up a fire safety puppet show for the kids. The kids could sit and watch the short 10 minute show during the carnival and learn about fire safety! After the show, the firefighters passed out “Stop, Drop and Roll” stickers for the kids.

Another year, a volunteer Fire Department sent out a Pumper Truck and let the kids take turns spraying water with the hose into a wooded area of the community grounds.

This is a win-win for everybody and it only takes a little bit a planning on your part!
